Obituary of Crystal Marie Francis

Crystal Marie Francis, 60, of Syracuse, passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2023, peacefully in her sleep.

Crystal was born, June 17, 1963 in Harrisburg,Pennsylvania.  She was raised and went to school in Newport,Pennsylvania. Crystal went to school for computer technology in the early 1990s. She loved music, especially Shaggy, and 80s music, soft rock bands such as Chicago to big hair bands such as Bon Jovi and Motley Crüe. Crystal was never without a book, electronic or paperback. Her favorites were Sci-fi, mythical, and Manga (Japanese comic stories). She loved the Dallas Cowboys and Star Wars. Crystal loved to spend time with her family, rather it were her related family, or those who become family to her through friendship. She was always ready to help, asking for nothing in return. She was always there, even at 3am when you couldn't sleep and needed to vent. Crystal was always a phone call away. Those who knew of her know she was nonjudgmental, selfless and too caring for her own good.

She is survived by her children, Jeannett Francis, of Harrisburg PA, Ronald Backus, of Phoenix NY, Danielle Backus, CA and Cheyenne Francis, of Edgewater, FL; 1 grandchild, Isaac Dellinger of Harrisburg PA. She is also survived by 3 brothers, a few nieces and nephew and many cousins. Crystal is also survived by her best friend and her family, who she called her 2nd family - Best friend of 25+ years Donna Thompson of Syracuse, NY, daughters Ashley and Miranda Lawson, son, Eli Peryea and 2 bonus grandchildren - Jánae and Jayceon Williams, of Syracuse NY.

A small celebration of life was celebrated on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2023 for those who knew and loved her in Syracuse NY; while one will be scheduled for those in Pennsylvania at a later date.
