Obituary of Alvin McLaughlin

Alvin "Butch" McLaughlin Jr., 65 years old. Butch left this world after a strong 10 month battle with cancer on July 4th, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. Butch was born on September 4th, 1948 in Canastota, New York and raised in Syracuse till he joined the Navy in 1965. For which then he resided in Illinois and Indiana; and for the last 12 years came back to Syracuse. He was a Navy veteran and served in Vietnam. He was an over the road truck driver for many years and retired from Onondaga County. Butch was a loving husband, father, uncle, grandfather and friend. Butch was the kind of person that would help anyone, at any time and was a Mr. Fix-It. He was a caring person with a great heart and took pride in whatever he owned, especially his truck. He loved his early morning breakfast and would make friends with anyone that he met. Butch is survived by his wife of 33 years, Sharon (Romozzi); and four children, sons, Dave (Rachel) and Chris (Colleen); daughters, Angela (Chris), and Brenda; brother, Donald (Nancy) Hamilton; niece, Donna; nephew, D.R. He was also the grandfather (pappy) of eight grandchildren. Butch is preceded in death by his parents, Alvin McLaughlin Sr. and Helen Milligan; and also siblings. Funeral proceedings were private.
