Obituary of Marian M. Nelson

Marian M. Nelson October 21, 1918 - November 8, 2013 Marian M. Nelson, age 95, passed away on Friday, November 8, 2013, after a short illness. She was born in Jamestown, NY in 1918 and married Donald L. Nelson in 1940. They resided in Jamestown until 1984 when they moved to Manlius, NY. She worked at Art Metal, Inc. and retired in 1982 from her position as Vice President at Chase Bank in Jamestown. Marian was very skilled at needle crafting and for many years was a dedicated member of the DeWitt Community Church Cross-Stitch Guild. Her meticulous and creative works live on in her children's homes. She was predeceased by her husband in 2011, and is survived by a son, Dr. Donald L. (Janice) Nelson of Aurora, CO; two daughters, Winanne (Dr. Norman) Lesswing of Manlius and Dr. Janice (Doug Hayes) Nelson of Sierra Madre, CA; four grandchildren, Bradford D. Nelson of Fredonia, NY, Keith (Ann) Nelson of Chandler, AZ, Kathryn Lesswing of Manlius and Laura (Owen Byrne) Lesswing of Lancaster, PA; and three great-grandchildren. Marian was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Rena McDonnell; and her three brothers, Charles, Clifford, and Gerald McDonnell. Marian was a devoted, loving wife for 71 years, and an excellent mother who had an exceptional gift for being a grandmother. She had a good life that she lived well and will be greatly missed.
