Obituary of Loretta Josephine Smith

Loretta Josephine Smith (DeFrank), 85, of Liverpool, passed this life peacefully; Tuesday, April 29th surrounded by her loving family. She was born to the late Anthony and Nicolina DeFrank, April 12, 1929 in Syracuse, NY. Loretta graduated from North High School in 1948 and then completed her schooling in cosmetology thereafter. She married George Henry Smith in 1953, and they resided in Liverpool New York. Loretta was a kind, compassionate, loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her creative skills were drawing, crocheting and cooking. Loretta was also interested in language studies, piano, and stamp collecting. She was passionate about her work as a beautician and worked in the field most of her life. She is survived by her husband, George H. Smith Sr. of Liverpool, NY and her three children: Marianne Smith Dalton, (Matthew) of Cazenovia New York; Teresa Rose Smith Gambuzza (Michael) of Syracuse New York; and William Edward Smith (Caroline) of Philadelphia, PA. She was also the mother of the late George Smith, Jr. of Marietta GA. Four grandchildren also survive her. Contributions in her name to a favorite charity are welcomed. Loretta will be laid to rest at Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Syracuse on May 10th. Service will be private. A celebration of her life will follow for close family and friends.
