We had the honor of knowing Doug and being his friend and I cannot ask for anything more wonderful ithan that. I know Doug is in heaven and he is a guardian angel and he is keeing us all safe. May you rest in Peace my Friend.                                                                   Jerry and Jamie Lazore

DougO was a friend of mine for many years. It seemed pretty much every time I was in town at a Syracuse music event, there he was standing right there, camera in hand! We had very similar musical tastes in common. He always had a kind word and a smile, and a great eye for photographing his subjects. (Pun intended, as we were all "Subjects" of the great King DougO! He truly was a King among men!) I am grateful to him for saving old pics of myself that he took, and sending them to me here out west years later. He will surely be missed by all that knew him. I know I will miss his presence, but never forget his existence. Rest in Peace, 'Ol Friend...

Doug, myself and Jim were inseparable up to our mid-teens.  He was my closest and best childhood friend.  Our families did everything together.   Although our lives grew apart as we got older, we always remained friends.   My heart aches at his passing.   How I still remember our younger years, playing in the streets, riding our bikes, looking for girlfriends and mischief. We played football in his Shonnard street backyard, played in our first rock bands together, pinochle and pitch at his kitchen table, swimming at Burnet park pool in the summer, then sledding down Buffalo hill all the way to Grand Ave in the winter.   We fought, laughed, and cried, and shared every moment to its fullest.  In childhood, He was with me when my Dad died, I was with him when his Mom, and Dad died.  Later on he was there for me when my Mom and sister died. He was my first best friend, and one of the nicest people I've ever had the privilege to know.   God bless you Doug.  Love, Brian

I think of what a pleasure it was to have known Duggo. We had alot of laughs, shared some tough times, but always took life head on. All who knew him will miss his one of a kind twist of a word or phrase. I am reminded every day of his kindness as I look at the photo he took of my bride and myself at our wedding. I look forward to seeing him again at another wedding. That would be at the wedding of the Lamb of God. What a blast that will be! See you then buddy.

Doug was one of the real good ones that I feel fortunate to have known. He was kind, generous & friendly, a good soul. I will always remember him with a camera around his neck & a smile on his face. I'm sure he's in the good place, listening to some good live blues & snapping away. It was an honor to know you Doug.

Doug was my neighbor for many years.  He was a very dear friend and the best neighbor a person could have.  We shared many laughs and many soul searching conversations through the years.  I was always happy to see him when we ran in to each other after he moved.  Doug was a wonderful, gentle soul who had a beautiful smile and a positive outlook on life.  His friendship was very precious to me and I will never forget him.

My condolences to Doug's family and friends. He was one of a kind. Such a gentleman who had a passion for life, family and friends, music, and photography. I grew up with Doug from the west side. I have so many beautiful memories of him. I will miss talking with him on the phone and through emails. He always cared about others. I am sure going to miss him and his smiling face. Doug loved and appreciated his girlfriend Kathy. Thank you Kathy for making my friend so happy and for the love you both have shared together. He always spoke highly of you and said he was blessed to have you in his life. God be with all of you. Until we meet again Doug, always will miss and love you my dear friend.

I was Doug's supervisor when he worked with me at Henry Frank Leather Co. in downtown Syracuse before he went to work at BOCES. Back then he had a passion for photography and was very good at it. My wife and I hired him to photograph our daughters wedding back in the mid 90's. He did an excellent job. My wife loved his humor as I did also. We were sorry to hear of his passing and we both will miss him. Doug was a great guy.

So very sad to hear of Dougies (DougO) passing.  We knew Doug and Vivian from childhood as my Mom and Grandparents were old friends of Jake and Ginny.  My sister Colleen and I hung out with Doug quite a lot in our younger days.  He was such a fun loving guy!  He always told everyone that Colleen and I were his cousins, and that always seemed to stick throughout our growing years.  My thoughts and many prayers are with the family during this very sad time in your lives.

Doug was a kind and gentle person his entire life. He stayed true to himself always, by keeping himself close to the things that mattered to him -- music, photography and animals. I pray that he is once again in the loving embrace of his mother and father. He will be greatly missed. The world is in dire need of more people like, Doug. Doug was the loving, peaceful kind.
