Obituary of LaVerne F. Ensminger

LaVerne F. Ensminger passed peacefully, November 15, 2015, at age 93. Predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Lorraine (LaFleur) in 2000 and son, Harold in 2008. Surviving are son, Gary (Georgia), Plano, TX, and daughters, Susan (Michael) Slivinski, Brewerton, NY, and Sandra Ensminger, Geneva, NY. Grandfather to Alexandra Ensminger, Dallas, TX and Cassandra (Curtis) Barnett, Plano, TX. 'Verne', a WWII Army Veteran, twice Purple Heart recipient, graduated from the University of Buffalo and was the first Athletic Director and Coach at Starpoint High School. He designed their first athletic fields and is on the Starpoint High School "Sports Wall of Fame". He taught 5th grade at Colonel Payne School until retirement.
