Obituary of John Ralph Marsh

John R. Marsh of Manlius, New York died peacefully on December 1, 2011 at home after a long illness. John Ralph was born on East Hill Farm, Jamesville, New York to Cady and Beatrice Marsh on June 22, 1917. He married Edna A. (P'nut) Almy in New Orleans, Louisiana on December 6, 1944. Edna passed away on June 4, 2011. John R. and Edna enjoyed playing golf at Towne Isle Golf Course & Poolsbrook Golf Course. John also enjoyed reading and creating many wonderful carpentry playthings for his kids. Upon leaving the Coast Guard in 1946, John R. worked for Stickley Furniture until 1949, when Cady Marsh passed away. John R. operated East Hill Farm until his retirement in 1988. He is survived by 5 children: Sharon (Norm) Volles, David (Diane) Marsh, John M. (Cathy) Marsh, Carole (Tony) Scala and JoAnn (Tim) Kuzdzal, 11 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren. A calling hour will be held Tuesday, December 6, 2011, 10:00 a.m. at A. Dewitt Memorial Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 4612 South Salina Street, Syracuse New York with the funeral service to follow immediately at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
