Obituary of Dean C. Thomas

Dean C. Thomas January 27, 1927 - January 30, 2013 Dean C. Thomas, 86, of Liverpool passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at James Square nursing home. He was born January 27, 1927 in Parishville, NY and attended Parishville High School. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy and was stationed in the Philippines. A loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Dean was a World War 2 Navy veteran and retired from Crouse Hinds after 36 years. Following his retirement he turned his love of sports, particularly the New York Yankees and Syracuse University basketball, into a business, and was the proud owner of The Hot Corner, a sports memorabilia store. Dean is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Betty M. (Goodrich) Thomas, his son Dean C. Thomas Jr. and his wife Denise, his daughter Valerie Thomas Parks and her husband Joe, his grandchildren Valina Sperato and her partner Melissa Simonik, India Indelicato and her husband Paul, Dylan Suttles and his partner Bridget Maloney, and Tara Stone and her husband Derek. He is also survived by his three great granddaughters, Skyeanne, Chloe, and Aleeyah, three sisters, Barbara Compton, Janet Hiscock, and Beverly Barrigar, as well as several nieces and nephews. Dean was predeceased by his three brothers, Layton, Clifford, and Raymond Thomas, and his sister, Cecile "Nita" McDonald. There will not be calling hours and the funeral will be private. A memorial service with full Military Honors will be held at a later date, and family and friends will be notified as to the time and place.
