Obituary of Donald L. Nelson

Donald L. Nelson March 3, 1919 - October 11, 2011 Donald L. Nelson, age 92, passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2011. He was born in Jamestown, NY, in 1919 and married Marian McDonnell in 1940. They lived there until 1984 when they moved to Manlius, NY. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII and worked for Hope's Windows for 46 years before retiring as Manufacturing Manager in 1982. Donald was a faithful donor to the American Red Cross, donating 27 gallons over the course of his life. He was a member of the DeWitt Community Church. He is survived by his wife, Marian; son, Dr. Donald L (Janice) Nelson of Aurora, CO; and two daughters, Winanne (Dr. Norman) Lesswing of Manlius and Dr. Janice (Doug Hayes) Nelson of Sierra Madre, CA; four grandchildren, Bradford D. Nelson of Fredonia, NY, Keith (Ann) Nelson of Scottsdale, AZ, Kathryn Lesswing of Syracuse, and Laura Lesswing of Princeton, NJ; three great-grandchildren; and his sisters, Ethel N. Lawson and Delores J. Nelson, Jamestown, NY. Donald was predeceased by his parents, John and Minnie Nelson, and his sister, Edwina Holmquist. He is lovingly remembered by family for his enduring example of kindness, patience and always doing the right thing. The family will hold a private service in his memory.
