Obituary of Willard Ernest Van Allen

Willard Ernest Van Allen February 6, 1919 - August 13, 2011 Willard Ernest Van Allen, 92, of 109 Fish Ave., Syracuse, New York, died Saturday, August 13, 2011 at his home. He was born February 6, 1919 in Kansas City, Missouri, moving to the Syracuse, New York area in 1933. A WW II veteran, he served in the US Army Air Corp in the Alaska Theater and continued as a member of the 174th Air National Guard in Syracuse. In 1946, he entered the mason trade and retired in 1975. Surviving are a son, John Thomas Van Allen of Pennsylvania; daughter, Judith Van Allen of Syracuse, New York; two half brothers, Willard W. Thomas of Syracuse, New York and Glen E. Newman of Texas; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth Katherine Fish; daughter, Carol Ann Mickle and half sister, Wanda Newman Markowski. A graveside service will be held Saturday, August 20, 2011, 10:00 a.m. in Onondaga Valley Cemetery, 2500 Valley Drive, Syracuse, New York 13207.
